Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is dog boarding?
Dog boarding is housing your dog at a facility outside of your home while you are away from your home for any period of time. K9 Hideaway specializes in luxury boarding for your dog, to ensure they are pampered in our care.
  • What is the difference between luxury boarding and traditional kennels?
Traditional Boarding Kennels Traditional boarding kennels are the most common type of dog boarding services. They are facilities that provide a temporary home for dogs while their owners are away. These kennels typically provide food, water, and a place to sleep for the dogs. The dogs are usually housed in individual runs or cages, which may be indoor or outdoor. The kennel staff will care for the dogs' basic needs, such as feeding, watering, and exercise. Some kennels may also offer additional services, such as grooming or training. Luxury Boarding Facilities Luxury boarding facilities are similar to traditional kennels but offer more upscale amenities. These facilities may offer larger runs or suites with comfortable bedding, TVs, and even webcams so owners can check in on their pets. They may also offer additional services such as mass
  • Is there someone overnight with the dogs?
Most pet care facilities do not provide overnight staff. Our state-of-the-art facility is equipped with video surveillance and protected by a central station alarm and a fire system at all times. In order to maintain an stress-free environment and promote a restful night, we do not have staff exploring the facility overnight. Most dogs are asleep before we lock up and we tend to wake them upon arrival in the morning. Our staff is here from approximately 8:00 pm - 9:00pm. *As our facility continuous to grow we will expand the night times of our staff until 9:30 pm.
  • My dog doesn’t do well with other dogs, can you still board him/her?
Yes, we can! At K9 Hideaway, we offer individualized boarding options for dogs that may not do well with other dogs. That said, we do require that all dogs are people-friendly and able to interact well with our staff. Our team will work closely with you to understand your dog's unique needs, preferences, and behaviors to ensure that they have a comfortable and stress-free stay with us.
  • What if my dog runs out of food?
K9 Hideaway has got you covered! We understand that things can happen, and sometimes your furry friend might run out of food while staying with us. Don't worry! Pet Wants’ specially-crafted, private-label pet food formulas are made in small batches with fresh, natural ingredients enhanced with vitamins and minerals for a complete and balanced diet in every bowl, all made in the USA. We provide regular updates and photos of your dog's activities so that you can stay informed and connected even while you are away. Let us focus on giving your dog the best possible care while you take care of other aspects of your life.
  • Can I bring my dog's toys from home to K9 Hideaway?
We kindly ask that you do not bring toys from home to K9 Hideaway. Our playroom is an open area where your dog will interact with other dogs, and bringing in personal toys can lead to possessiveness or potential conflicts between the dogs. Additionally, many personal dog toys are not suitable for our playroom, as they may be easily torn, ripped, or chewed into small pieces that can pose a choking hazard to the dogs. At K9 Hideaway, we provide a variety of safe and engaging toys for your dog to enjoy during their stay with us. Thank you for understanding and helping us maintain a safe and fun environment for all our furry guests.
  • Can a friend drop off/pick up my dog?
Yes, as long as you have added them to the booking application account as an approved pickup person, and we will ask for ID when they come to pick up.
  • Can I call while I’m away to check how my dog is doing?
Yes, we also provide daily report cards and post frequently on social media, so be sure to follow us on Facebook, TikTok, and Youtube.
  • Can my dogs board together?

We reserve the right to upgrade the dog(s) to a larger accommodation and/or separate them into separate accommodations if we fell it is in the best interest of the dog(s)'s health and safety. K9 Hideaway cannot be held responsible for any disagreements between dogs while sharing an accommodation.
  • What if my dog doesn't have a Bordetella shot, can we still bring them?
At K9 Hideaway and Craigmyle K9 Training, we strictly enforce the Bordatella vaccine requirement for all dogs who attend our training and boarding facilities. The Bordatella vaccine is used to prevent against kennel cough, which is a highly contagious respiratory infection that can spread quickly among dogs in close quarters. This vaccine is required to maintain a safe and sanitary environment for all dogs in our care. We highly recommend speaking with your veterinarian about this vaccine and ensuring that your dog is up-to-date on all necessary vaccinations before attending any boarding, daycare and training classes. * The vaccine must be administered at least 10 days before their boarding or daycare reservation.
  • We might get back from vacation a day or two early, so would it be a problem if we picked our dog up early?
Yes, you can. At K9 Hideaway, we understand the importance of your time and commitments, so we do our best to accommodate your needs. We just ask that you let us know ahead of time that you’ll be coming early, so we can prepare your dog appropriately for an early departure and have everything ready for you when you arrive without a wait time!
  • When you say you’re closed for a Holiday, will there be someone here taking care of the dogs?
Yes, at K9 Hideaway we have staff available 365 days a year to ensure that our furry friends receive the best care possible. Only the lobby is closed on specified holidays for pick up and drop off. In fact, holidays are some of the busiest times of the year for us, as many pet owners travel and need a safe and reliable place for their dogs to stay. Please contact us for any additional Holiday questions or concerns. We are committed to providing the highest quality care for each of our canine clients, year-round.
  • Can I watch a live feed of my dog while they're at K9 Hideaway?
Absolutely, in our luxury calming suites and Capone's Hideout, we offer live web cam access! At this time We DO NOT have camera access for our traditional kennels. At K9 Hideaway, we understand how important it is to stay connected with your pup. That's why we offer a live camera feed available for viewing between the hours of 8:00 pm - 06:30 am. During the day, our playful pups are usually out enjoying our kennel-free daycare areas, so the cameras are focused on their cozy sleeping spaces at night. Additionally, to maintain a calm environment, the audio is turned off to discourage pet parents from talking to their pups through the night. This helps create a serene atmosphere essential for both the dogs and our team. So rest assured, even when you're apart, you can still keep a loving eye on your beloved pet!

  • Will your training fix my dog?
At Craigmyle K9 Training, we apply the knowledge and skills we've acquired over the past decade to mold and adjust your dog's behaviors. Similar to humans, dogs required ongoing training; without it, they can become lax and start to forget what they've learned. Dog training is an ongoing and constant necessity to uphold the desired level of obedience.
  • What tools do you use to train my dog?
We use a diverse array of tools for training your dogs, including flat collars, fur savers, zip chains, and training collars. We believe that no single tool can address every dog's problems, so we utilize a wide range of tools to positively and effectively communicate with your dog.
  • I do not have time for private lessons or to train my dog on my own. Can you help me?
Certainly! We provide a range of training options, from a 1 day Pawsitive Day Training and Daycare (10 hours of training and daycare), to 1 week board and train, and a 2 week board and train. If more time is required, we also offer a four week board and train to comprehensively address all of your dog's behaviors. We encourage you to attend as much of the training as you desire during the board and train time. We will keep in contact with you and send report cards daily through our app.
  • Can you fix just one behavioral issue with my dog?
The short answer is Yes! To fix a behavior in a dog we must start off with the basics, obedience. During the process of basic obedience you will see a change in your dog that may fix the behavioral issue. We will work together to address the issues and tailor our training to your desire and needs.
  • How long are your private one on one sessions.
Our sessions last an hour and include a wide range of information from training, nutrition, dog psychology, being a good dog parent, knowing your roles and responsibilities to effectively communicate with your dog.
  • Can you teach my dog German commands
Absolutely! We can teach your dog English, German, and Dutch commands or a combination.
  • Do you train law enforcement dogs?
Yes! We are certified Law Enforcement K9 Trainers and work with agencies all over the US. We train dogs in narcotics detection, tracking/trailing and wind scents, article/evidence locating, and suspect apprehension/detention.
  • Why do you train my dog at businesses?
We train your dog in places where you want to take them. Training your dog in places like Lowe's, Home Depot, a patio at a restaurant, provides exposure to various sights, sounds, and smells preparing them for the experiences the will encounter with you. By familiarizing them with different environments, we aim to ensure their comfort and success in diverse settings.
  • I live in another state or country, can you train my dog?
Yes! We travel and train dogs all over the world. We also offer LIVE online dog training session via Zoom.
  • What vaccines does my dog need to be boarded and to participate in dog training?

  • Is daycare good for dogs?
Yes! Doggy daycare is good for most dogs. Bringing your dog to daycare has its benefits, including those that improve your dog’s quality of life: 1. Plenty of mental stimulation and physical activity: Not only does this tire your pup out, but it can also reduce unwanted behaviors like constant barking. 2. An outlet to expend excess energy, exercise, and remain active: Your dog will be able to participate in daily exercise through group activities. Participants play in a cage-free environment while enjoying the freedom to stretch their legs. 3. Eases separation anxiety: By giving your pup time away from you in a safe, fun, and stimulating environment, dog daycare gives your pup great practice for alone time. Our staff will give your dog the attention and care they need to help make their stay as low-stress as possible. 4. The chance to socialize with other dogs of a similar size and temperament: Dogs are social animals, and they benefit from spending time with other dogs! Each dog is evaluated to ensure appropriate and comfortable play with the other dogs, and maintain a completely safe and healthy environment. If your dog doesn’t do well with other dogs, they can still benefit from a dog daycare—group play will be replaced with one-on-one playtime with our staff. Keep in mind, however, that if your dog is reactive (common among dogs who were rescued from abusive owners), dog daycare may not be the best idea. Please let us know if your dog struggles with aggression, and we can discuss whether behavioral training is recommended before checking in.
  • How often should my dog go to dog daycare?
Daycare is recommended as often as possible! Dogs are highly adaptable and enjoy a routine that is predictable. Most commonly dogs will come between 2-4 times per week, but we very often see dogs upwards of 5 times a week! The exercise is wonderful to keep them entertained and socialized, and they will make "friends" they can consistently see and interact with at daycare. We love to see your dogs as often as we can and establish our own relationship with them, in turn making them more comfortable while in our care.
  • What are the hours for drop-off and pickup?
Hours: Monday - Friday Drop-off: Anytime after 7:00 am Pick up: Anytime before 6:00 pm Saturday Drop-off: Anytime after 8:00 am Pick up: Anytime before 4:00 pm
  • How do I know if my dog likes dog daycare?
At K9 Hideaway, we understand that you may feel hesitant about leaving your furry loved one with us for the first time. However, there are a few signs that can indicate whether your dog is enjoying their time at daycare: - Your dog is excited to go to daycare and jumps out of the car or pulls to get inside. - Your dog greets the staff and other dogs with enthusiasm and a wagging tail. - Your dog is relaxed and content while playing with toys and interacting with other dogs. - Your dog eats their food and drinks water while at daycare. - Your dog comes home tired and happy, ready to cuddle with you. If your dog shows any signs of distress, fear, or aggression while at daycare, our trained staff will be able to intervene and assess the situation. We believe in creating a safe and fun environment for all dogs, and we prioritize their well-being above all else. If you have any concerns or questions about your dog's behavior at daycare, please do not hesitate to speak with our staff, who will be more than happy to address your concerns.

Yes, we separate dogs on size, temperament and history of being in doggy daycares.

We require the following immunization: * Rabies * Bordetella * DHLPP (this is a five-way vaccine that includes viral diseases canine distemper, hepatitis, parvovirus, parainfluenza and bacterial infection leptospirosis). • Nose Rubbing
A dogs world is of odor and at K9 Hideaway we have many odors with the dogs that stay with us. Some dogs can become curious at all the different sights and smells at a Pet Care Facility.
